Gower Peninsula Travel Guide
Officially known at an Area of Outstanding Beauty, the Gower Peninsula is one of the most picturesque regions of Wales and the perfect place for nature lovers to explore. The cool and clear waters of Oxwich Bay are edged by sand dunes and woodlands and this is a great place to spend a few hours soaking up the sun. this is famous for being the most beautiful stretch of sand in the whole of the United Kingdom and is overlooked by the impressive ramparts of Penrice Castle.
People who want to learn more about the history and culture of this part of Wales should also pay a visit to Weobley Castle. This is one of the best preserved castles in the area and visitors who climb to the top of one of the castle’s high towers will be greeted with enchanting views all the way across the Loughor Estuary to Carmarthenshire.
A large number of footpaths run around the Lliw Reservoirs and this is a great place to go hiking while admiring the natural beauty of the area. There are also several spots where visitors can pause for a picnic on the shores of the water.
