People who want to soak up the sun for a few ours should head on over to Minehead Beach. This long and flat stretch of sandy is ideal for spreading out on, while it is lined with a number of shops, bars and restaurants with stunning views provided across to North Hill in the distance.

Running for some six hundred miles along the coast, the South West Coastal Path starts on the edge of Minehead and s the perfect place to take a stroll on a sunny day. In addition to providing visitors with stunning ocean views, this path offers varied walking that is sure to appeal to keen hikers.

West Somerset Railway – Minehead, England

The West Somerset Railway is a preserved, heritage, predominantly steam train driven railway that runs from the tourist seaside town of Minehead in Somerset to Watchet.

Perhaps the best way to view the natural beauty of this part of England in comfort and style is by taking a ride on the West Somerset Railway. A number of special events are also held here throughout the year such as treasure hunts and Halloween celebrations to help capture the imagination of visitors.

Situated around the large and lovely Wimbleball Lake, Wimbleball Lake Country Park is a very scenic spot where people of all ages can take part in a wide range of different types of activities. There are many miles of paths to follow here as well as pretty cycling trails, while activities such as canoeing, windsurfing and kayaking are ideal for those who enjoy messing about on the water.

There are more than six hundred hectares of pristine woodland at the Great Wood for visitors to explore and this picturesque area also comes complete with activities for the whole family to enjoy. A well-marked trail leads the way through the woods, while visitors are also welcome to bring their bicycles and make use of the dedicated BBQ area.

Climate conditions

It can get rather chilling on the coast and visitors are advised to wrap up warm when they go walking. The driest and sunniest time of the year is in the summer months of June, July and August and this is the perfect time to explore the Great Outdoors in all its glory.
